Dancing to Compete

"Dancing from the heart" is more than a catch phrase at Kathy Hansen School of Dance. Passion and emotion combined with solid choreography and an emphasis on technique are the keys to our competitive philosophy.

Each year, this philosophy, combined with the hard work of our dancers turns out some of the top groups, lines, solos, duets and trios statewide.

Our competitive students are continually challenged at some of the top competitions in the Northeast. Recent years have seen participation in the American Dance Awards, Talent Olympics, the New York State Tournament of Dance and Dance Olympus, to name a few.

We have 5 Competitive Teams.
Beginning Competitive Team - approx. ages 5-8
Intermediate Competitive Team- approx. ages 7-11
Junior Competitive Team- approx. ages 10-13
Senior Competitive Team- approx. ages 13 and up
Adult Competitive Team

We also offer special classes to students who excel in a particular dance style. These special advanced classes are designed to enable students to reach for the next level.
